Baby G - Week 33

Jonathan and I went to a CPR class this morning. We thought it was a good idea to know the basics just in case something happened once the baby arrived. Hopefully, we never have to use it, but I feel better knowing some of the basics.

So Baby G definitely has his days and nights mixed up. You may be wondering how I know this little fact? Well, Wednesday night was a rough night. I was lucky if I got two hours of sleep, and throughout the entire night Baby G was on the move. He's always been active in the evenings starting around 5ish. And usually when I lay down, around 9:30, I get several strong kicks. But this week, I learned he moves most of the night! I told Jonathan, I usually feel him periodically throughout the day, but Wednesday night I felt him way more than I feel him during the day. He wasn't the reason I couldn't sleep; I just couldn't get comfortable. I tried the bed, the couch, the guest bed, the recliner and finally back to our bed. Thursday afternoon, I came home and slept for two hours and had no trouble going to bed at 9:00 that evening.

I am pretty worn out in the afternoons when I get home from school. Within the past week or so, I've really started to notice that I'm short on breath even when I'm doing simple things like walking around the classroom. I guess everything is really starting to get squashed. I also feel like I live in the bathroom. During the night, I usually get up anywhere between 3-7 times. All I can hope is that this is preparing me for after Baby G is born.

We went to the doctor yesterday, and everything is moving along just fine. The heartbeat was 151, and so far I've only gained about 18 pounds...this after eating a giant, greasy burger and fries for lunch! I've been eating pretty much whatever I want...I certainly don't feel like I'm going without! Jonathan and I have had our share of Blue Bell and girl scout cookies :) I do eat quite a few fruits and vegetables each day...I pack several snacks for school each day. As for meat, beef is still my biggest turn off. I can handle ground beef, but things like steak and BBQ...yuck! The only other thing that is completely gross to me are bell peppers...weird, I know.

Baby G - Week 32

We had our first baby shower this past weekend. I told Jonathan when we got home, it's sort of like Christmas when you're a kid. There are lots of gifts, and they are all for you...I mean the baby :)

Dawn, Staci and Leah hosted a wonderful shower in Weimar. I know they are all busy with their own lives and families so it was extra special that they took time out to host a shower. It seemed like everyone had a great time, and I had the chance to visit with several old friends. And one of our friends is due with a little girl in May....maybe Baby G's future girlfriend? Here are a few pictures from the afternoon.

This was a wishing tree. I can't wait to put all of the sweet wishes on Baby G's 1st Christmas tree!
The booties on the cake were a Christmas ornament...do they know me or what?

Yum! Cake Pops!
As for me, I'm feeling more and more tired in the afternoons and evenings. I usually have to come home from school and just sit down for a little while. Sleep is about the same...a few great hours and then tossing and turning the rest of the night. And I usually fall asleep on the couch around 8 - 8:30...Jonathan just laughs at me. I'm also finding it harder and harder to bend over...even simple things like unloading the dishwasher is getting difficult. I washed a load of baby clothes today, and I think Baby G may have more clothes than I do! Put it like this...he's not lacking for onesies. We also found a pediatrician this week. Her office is about 5 minutes away so I'm really hoping things work out.

Baby G continues to be a little wiggle worm. He's usually most active in the evenings 7-9ish. Several days this past week, he woke me up in the middle of the night with a pretty strong kicks or punches. I'm hoping he gets his days and nights figured out once he's here! Jonathan and I can watch him move and see my entire belly shift...it's pretty weird looking! I was putting away some things in the nursery yesterday, and Flash came in. After his once over sniff of the room, he curled up by the crib as if he were guarding it. Maybe Flash can teach Baby G how to sleep...he is pretty good at it!

Baby G - Week 31

Jonathan and I went to the doctor yesterday. The doctor has joked with us that no news is good news, and when they don't hear from us...it's a good sign. I never thought about it that way, but it's a pretty good way of looking at things. So nothing out of the ordinary to report. In two weeks, they will see which way he is laying.

Early in the week, Baby G wasn't moving much. In fact, on Monday, he had me a little worried, but I had a coke and the sugar got him moving. Since then, I think he's been making up for being a little sluggish...he has been a wiggle worm the past few days. He's also had the hiccups a few times this week. I think the first time he had them was two or three weeks ago, but I'm noticing it more now.

I'm feeling more tired in the evenings. And at night, I sleep great for 3-4 hours! I feel like I'm in such a deep sleep that I don't even move, but then I have to go to the bathroom. The rest of the night is restless, tossing and turning and waking several times for the bathroom. The nurses at the doctor's office suggested that every time I'm up in the middle of the night I give Jonathan a little nudge so he'll be ready for those sleepless nights too! It made me laugh.

The cafeteria lady at my school made my day...ok, really my week. She always asks how I'm doing and how the baby is, but this week she said, "I can't believe how tiny you are. You look so good for having 2 months to go." Of course, after that I proceeded to eat a burrito from Chipotle and a sprinkled donut. Yes, I'm still loving Mexican food with a few sweets thrown in for good measure :)

Baby G - Week 30

And now we're down to single digit weeks! I counted the days of school I have left, minus holidays and weekeneds, and I have 38 days. The past couple of months really have flown by. We went to the second of our child birth classes this past Saturday. I think we've got it all figured out...hahaha!

On Friday, Joanthan and I went to the Paramount to see Robert Ellis. He's a mix of Paul Simon and George Jones. We both agreed that he sounded better in person than on his CD, which is rare. And I think we may have a music fan on our hands. Baby G kicked, squirmed and danced the entire time!

I'm still really liking Mexican food...especially chips and queso! Sleep has been so so. On Thursday night, I had the best 4-5 hours in months, and then I was pretty much up from about 2:30. Joanthan and I have been trying to walk in the evenings. I'm trying to make it around the block a few times a week...nothing too crazy! So far, my hands and feet haven't gotten swollen and in general my body has felt pretty good. I've just been a little tired, but I pretty much expected that! I still think I've had a pretty easy go of it.
